ACADIA BIRDING FESTIVAL
Acadia’s birding community invites you to celebrate the wonders of the birds from the of Gulf of Maine at the Acadia Birding Festival June 3rd – 6th.  Explore Mount Desert Island located in the Acadia National Park and join bird experts, events and numerous  venues that will connect you with Downeast Maine’s many bird species.

GREAT MAINE LUMBERJACK SHOW
Celebrating 25 Years as the Best Entertainment in Down-East-Maine.  Affordable fun that includes a great show featuring Tina Scheer (a castaway from CBS’s Survivor: Panama-Exile) along with some lumberjack activities you get to try on your own! LA ROCHELLE MANSION & MUSEUM
Explore Mount Desert Island history at Bar Harbor’s Gilded waterfront mansion that is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Built in 1903 La Rochelle is the largest estate built along the shore of West Street in Bar Harbor. This magnificent Georgian Revival Mansion was was built for George Sullivan Bowdoin.  The architects were Andrews, Jaques and Rantoul of Boston. Situated on 2 acres of land this 13,000 square foot, forty-one room lavish chateaux has 9 full bathrooms and twelve bedrooms.  The Bar Harbor Historical Society recently purchased the estate in 2019 in order to preserve the grounds and the mansion for generations to come.

NATURE & PARKS

Bar Harbor has no shortage of things to do for the outdoor enthusiast. Found just outside the city, Acadia National Park is the perfect escape, providing mountain vistas, foliage, and wildlife. Inside the national park, the Schoodic Peninsula and Eagle Lake, two hidden treasures, are the best places to take in those views. Mount Desert Island and  the trails surrounding Frenchman Bay are other options for those seeking the outdoors. Here, you’ll join other walkers and joggers as they enjoy the seaside views.

LANDMARKS & SIGHTS

During low tide, Bar Island is accessible via the Bar Island Land Bridge, creating a unique destination with lots of outstanding views.. Located a half mile from Harbor Pier, the Shore Path is the spot to find  the Bar Harbor Inn Restaurant and other great eateries, seated alongside magnificent mansions. 

ENTERTAINMENT

For entertainment in Bar Harbor, the famous Criterion Theater is historic attraction. You’ll find anything from live music to comedy and movie nights here.
