In 2023, American Queen Voyages bid adieu to the Great Lakes, selling their Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager ships. They shifted their focus to the enchanting rivers of America, where history and natural beauty intertwined in a new adventure. Cheers to the new horizons and the promise of riverine wonders!

If this hallmark cruise line makes its return to the Great Lakes at any point in the future, we will look forward to being the first to let you know.

With its twin ships, American Queen Voyages offers an expansive experience while sailing The Great Lakes of North America. These classically designed cruise ships immerse you in the best features of the lakes, going where larger ships simply can’t. With a capacity of up to 202 passengers, not only will you be able to visit more unique destinations and hidden gems, but you’ll also enjoy a far more intimate feel that allows you, other passengers, and even the crew to get to know one another.

Twin Great Lakes Classics

Recently re-named as Victory Cruise Lines became American Queen Voyages, the Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator cruise ships were previously known as Victory I and Victory ​II. They continue to offer the same luxury journeys, newly-renovated interiors, amenities, and engaging entertainment and educational activities that made them a Great Lakes cruising classic. Despite their size, the American Queen ships pack a lot into a small package, including spacious rooms outfitted with all the features of home, where you’ll be catered to by 80 crew members.

American Queen Cruise Ships' Staterooms and Suites

Each of the American Queen Great Lakes ships, the Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator, feature world-class accommodations that have recently been given a facelift, keeping with their original design but with updated bedding, furniture, and color schemes. Inside each stateroom or suite, you’ll find queen-sized beds (or two single-sized, depending on your preference) with Egyptian cotton bedding, high-definition televisions, and private restrooms. All of the rooms have an outside facing window, so you can see the majestic views of the Great Lakes at all times.

American Queen Voyages’ Owner’s Suite exemplifies the top tier of Great Lakes cruising. Found on each ship’s third deck, special features of the suite include indoor and outdoor entrances, a terrace with panoramic views of the Great Lakes, a mini-fridge, and a fully-outfitted living room with a pull-out bed.

AA STATEROOMS

With lakeside views and direct access to the outdoor Promenade Deck on Deck 4, the AA Staterooms on the Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator feature all the accommodations of a high-end hotel.

A STATEROOMS

185 sq. ft.

One of the American Queen Voyages’ ships’ most spacious rooms, enjoy the sun as its rays shine through this rooms three wide windows. The A Staterooms are located on Deck 3 of each twin ship.

B STATEROOMS

146 sq. ft.

Enjoy panoramic views of Deck 3 from this classically elegant stateroom.

C STATEROOMS

152 sq. ft.

With incredible views of the Great Lakes, these deluxe rooms are found on Decks 2 and 3 of the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager ​cruise ship.

Note: Staterooms 211 and 213 are connecting. Staterooms 347 and 348 have fixed twin beds, and are not convertible into a double or queen bed.

D STATEROOMS

158 sq. ft.

With the comforts of a high-end hotel, this room is the perfect place to relax after a long day cruising the Great Lakes. A convenient location on Deck 1 provides easy access to the Coastal Dining Room.

E STATEROOMS

160 sq. ft.

With a classic feel, these Deck 1 staterooms provide a good night’s rest in between adventures with view of the surrounding Great Lakes.

Note: Staterooms 101 and 102 have fixed queen beds.

American Queen Voyages Cruise Ship Amenities

Along with timeless rooms with all the comforts of home, you’ll find many more features unique to the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager yachts. An on-board enrichment program allows every guest the opportunity to learn about the areas you’ll be sailing in. With the program, local field-specific experts and historians are invited aboard to deliver topical lectures.

The highlight of most Great Lakes cruises, American Queen’s cruise ships offer immersive shore excursions. These in-depth activities are a specialty for American Queen Voyages — only available through them, due to the cruise line’s veteran status among North American sailing ships. At many ports of call, you’ll have at least one included excursion, and a number of premium options as well.

On top of the American Queen Voyages shore excursions and enrichment program, each fare also includes access to a multitude of optional activity spaces while on the ship. On both the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a fitness center, spa, salon, and a sun deck. The fitness center is fully-featured, with stationary bikes, treadmills, weights, and other workout machines. At the spa and salon, find expert masseuses and stylists, who can give you give you beauty treatments and relaxation usually reserved for the best luxury spas. Or, check out the sun deck, which highlights the picturesque views of the Great Lakes with a furnished lounge — the perfect place to lay back and relax, glass of champagne in hand.

Dining and Drinks on Each Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager Cruise Ship

On both ships, two restaurants and two lounges serve delicious food and drinks. At all of them, you’ll find free wine and beer. The American Queen Voyages restaurants are:

  • The Coastal Dining Room. Manned by a team of seasoned chefs, the Coastal Dining Room is a classy spot, serving seasonal dishes from breakfast till dinner.
  • The Grill. A casual eatery, The Grill serves classic meals in build-your-own-plate buffet style. This restaurant truly has something for everyone, making it an ideal spot for larger groups.

In addition to the incredible food served aboard the twin ships, the two lounges serve up inspiring cocktails, vintage wines, and craft beer — or even teas and coffee. If you’re in need of a snack in between meals, each of the lounges also offer hors d’oeuvres. The ships’ lounges are:

  • The Compass Lounge. An upscale cocktail lounge with a classic feel, The Compass Lounge often hosts live bands, who play with picturesque views of the Great Lakes behind them.
  • The Tavern. This English-style pub is a relaxed place to share stories of the day’s adventures with other passengers, with wonderful cocktails, wine, and beer to boot.

Luxury dining and drinks make for some of the best features on Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator cruises. They’re all conveniently located due to each ship’s small size, ensuring an intimate feel that compares to nothing else.
